Travel tips for military families – Dallas, TX
Although most are in the San Antonio area, there are many which are within a 3-hour drive from Dallas. For the Army, Navy, Marine, or Air Force families who are stationed at or visiting Naval Air Station Fort Worth, Sheppard Air Force Base, Fort Hood, or Dyess Air Force Base and find themselves with a few days to spare in Dallas, here are some suggestions for you on how best to make the most of your time there.
The Adolphus hotel is located in downtown Dallas and is an iconic place to stay. Located in the Main Street district and built in 1912, the hotel is a reminder of the glory days of Dallas. Dignitaries, royalty and dignitaries – the who’s who through time has stayed here. For the military families on a budget, don’t worry, the Adolphus offers government discounts on their room rates, making this an affordable choice. While there is no gym here, they have an agreement with a health club down the street and you can use their facilities for a nominal fee.

Other good hotel alternatives are the Crowne Plaza and Springhill Suites. The Crowne Plaza is a few short blocks from Dealey Plaza and is centrally located. The Springhill Suites hotel is located near the many eateries which make up the West End district in Dallas. There are steakhouses, barbeque joints, bars, casual eateries and more formal choices – you are sure to find something that will suit everyone’s palate. For the kids in your family or the kid in you, be sure to stop by the Dallas World Aquarium.
