Military Travel Discounts and Tips for Las Vegas – Palazzo

Las Vegas Military Travel Discounts – Palazzo

palazzo   – gondoliers serenading tourists as they maneuver the tight waterways as shoppers pass by, overhead. The shops are a bit on the high end, but fun to browse. There are a few restaurants to grab a bite, after burning off some calories from shopping. Canaletto is highly rated for its lobster spaghetti, which is great if you’re willing to shell out some serious dough for it. When we were there, we found the staff to be rude and inattentive. The food was just ok, reminded me of Olive Garden but with a Mastro’s price tag. So, I would advise you to avoid this restaurant, unless you have money burning a hole in your pocket, which if you did, I would highly recommend Sushi Samba and Carnevino – both have top notch food with equally great service. The rooms at both the Palazzo and Venetian are large and roomy. There is a separate living room from where the beds are, so it is spacious for large Air Force families. The bathroom is also huge, which is a plus when you many people trying to get ready for a night out on the town. From what I understand all the couches in the Palazzo are pull out beds, while this is not always true in Venetian. Both hotels have great pools, which are very popular in summer. If you’re up for it, Venetian has Tao Beach, which is a daytime party by the pool, while Palazzo has Azure, which is a “European” experience (i.e. topless pool area). No worries, both are carefully hidden so military families with young kids need not worry. For the party-goers, Palazzo has Lavo while Venetian houses Tao. Both nightclubs are typically filled to capacity on any Friday and Saturday in summer. One of the plusses of staying at the Palazzo is the Walgreens located along Las Vegas Boulevard, just outside the hotel. It’s open 24 hours and well stocked with toiletries, food, drinks, snacks, first aid needs, and some Vegas souvenirs. INSIDER TIP: At the Palazzo, ask for a room with a view of TI – you’ll be able to watch the Sirens show from the comfort of your room!
