Luke AFB is a military base situated in Glendale, Arizona. It is commanded by Brigadier General Kurt F. Neubauer and is HQ to the 56th Fighter Wing.
The Air Base is named after Medal of Honor recipient, Lieutenant Frank Luke, Jr., who had shot down many German Balloons and several enemy planes in World War I. It was completed on 1941. The base is currently HQ to over 19,000 military and civilian personnel together with their 12,000 family members as well as around 80,000 retired.
